Xelerator Kiteboarding is a rider-driven company where boards are designed by riders for riders! The company’s HQ and R&D are based in Cape Town, with the best and harshest testing conditions imaginable on our doorstep. Xelerator Kiteboarding was founded in 2004 by talented all-round waterman Andrew Johns. Andrew Johns started the business in Port Elizabeth by shaping Wicked Stix boards (kiteboards and windsurfing boards) and soon all the locals were riding them. |

In 2004 Andrew Johns moved from Jeffrey’s Bay to Cape Town and founded Xelerator Kiteboarding. Facing intense rivalry from a relatively small Kiteboarding industry, Andrew just stuck it out and did what he did best: Shaping boards and enjoying the sport. | |||||||||

Soon Xelerator was making boards for Aaron Hadlow and Flexifoil to name a few and was going from strength to strength. Unfortunately in August 2007 Andrew died in a tragic accident when he fell of a mountain whilst spending quality time with his family in the snow. Xelerator continued to be at the forefront of Kiteboard development. Xelerator launched their first directional waveboard back in 2004 and in 2006 Xelerator was the first company to use closed cell EPS cores for their waveboards. Currently the Epic Waveboards are the benchmark for performance waveboards that last and have proven to be the strongest board on the market. In 2010 Xelerator introduced the 3D TPFC (Thickness Profile Flex Control) to create flex patterns in their Twintips based on the riders weight and height. This technique was first used in the development of our highly successful and record breaking Speedboards Many of the world's best professional Kiteboarders now come to us for their custom made performance sticks - whether it is Freestyle, Wave, Speed or Race boards. |
