Xelerator’s Speed Development Program
July 2008
The past year Xelerator has invested a lot of energy and resources into the ultimate speed development program.
The Xelerator team is proud to announce that for 2009 the entire range has been captured in a CAD program that allows us to make adjustments according to the individualriders requirements. The computer shaping will ensure thatthe final shaped board will be an exact copy of the initial design.
Xelerator have 2 milestones ahead, which they have set their sights on and are feeling confident they can reach:
• The absolute outright speed record
• Being the first to break the 50 knots barrier
In order to achieve these targets, Xelerator is currently working with Sebastian Cattelan one of the fastest kiter’s and a key member of the Xelerator Team and we are confident if any one can do it, it will be Seb. Unfortunately the WSSR initiated a new rule. The new rule states that “Record claims will not be ratified when, in the opinion of the WSSR Commissioner, the minimum water depth over the whole course is below 50 cms. This will affect not only the speed strip with the highest potential Lagoon 2 Luderitz in Namibia but also most other world cup speed venues. It is no secret that there has been and still is a strong lobby amongst influential windsurfers for this bizarre rule. The rule is meant to prevent kiters (and windsurfers?) to use venues with shallow water. It does also seem as if the canal crew is trying to use this rule to prevent others to compete at suitable venues elsewhere. No matter what will come out of this we will pursue the quest for the 50 knots. To be continued!!
